FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) develops hands-on programs to inspire our next generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians, by exposing them to the excitement of science and engineering to prepare them for the advanced workplace of tomorrow. Our programs are successful because of the support of volunteers and sponsors from the Washington DC metropolitan area community. FIRST robotics teams in the District of Columbia participate in all four programs.
The FIRST National Capital Region benefits local students, teachers, corporate and community partners across Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Through the FIRST National Capital Region and our major program partners, we coordinate activities and resources across a broader community of FIRST teams, events and students. The funding focus of the FIRST National Capitol Region is on FIRST Robotics Competition events and teams. Funding efforts for other FIRST programs are driven by our major program partners, including James Madison University and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Either become a mentor or volunteer.
