Byte Back is a nonprofit computer and job training center which serves over a thousand low-income adults each year. Our headquarters is located in Brookland, across the street from the Red Line Metro station in Ward 5. We also have satellite locations in six wards throughout the city. We are a two-time finalist for the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.
Byte Back offers three levels of classes: computer literacy classes for students who have never used a computer before, Microsoft Office classes for students seeking an office job, and computer certification classes for students interested in entering the IT field. Our curriculum is hands on and project based, so students learn by doing. We remove barriers by ensuring wheelchair access; offering classes during business hours, evenings, and weekends; and providing assistive technology to students with disabilities. We customize the curriculum to meet the needs of specific groups, such as youth, seniors, American Sign Language and Spanish speakers, and literacy learners.
Volunteer at Byteback or work as an Americorps member post-graduation.
